Phil Halliday - Editor
Phil joined the Financial Times as graduate trainee in 1987 having read PPE at Oxford University. He held a number of positions on the paper before joining the inaugural editorial team of FT.com in 1996. As summaries editor on FT.com, he hired, and ran, a team of reporters that wrote breaking news for the website. He then moved to Cantos Communications in 2001 to become its first web editor before joining Financial Times Business in 2002 as head of news for Investment Adviser and Financial Adviser, two of the group’s trade papers. Phil joined the Mining Journal in 2008 and also lectures at the BPP law college, subject: London as a financial services centre. |

Dominic Mercer - Deputy Editor (Exploration &
development)
Dominic is a Fellow of the Geological Society. After
working for several years as a geologist in the UK extractive industries, he
graduated with an MSc in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines in
1993. Following a period working in gold exploration in the Lake Victoria region
of Kenya, he joined Mining Journal in 1997, working on the Exploration &
Development section. In his time with Mining Journal, he has visited exploration
properties, development projects and operating mines in Africa, Scandinavia,
Europe, Russia, Australia, South East Asia, and North and South America. |

Katherine Dixon - Assistant Editor
Katherine graduated from University College London in 2004 with a first class honours in Geology BSc. In
2006-07 she completed, with distinction, an MSc in Quaternary Science focusing
on Earth science and environmental change. Katherine joined Mining Journal as a
journalist in March 2007, covering headline news and exploration and development
sections. |

Mike Lovesey - Production & Markets Editor
Michael graduated with a degree in Arts and Sciences (Geophysics) from Sydney University in 2006. Michael started as a geologist with Geos Mining in Sydney in 2005, working in mineral exploration and production before joining Mining Journal as a reporter in September, 2007. |

Victoria Grima - Features Editor
After graduating from Cardiff University in 2006 with a degree in exploration and resource geology, Victoria joined Anglo American plc where she worked as a global business development analyst and worked for two months with the sustainable-development department. She joined Mining Journal in January 2008 as Features Editor, and also writes in-house analytical features. Victoria has field-work experience in Mongolia, Laos, South China, Spain and Cyprus. |

Paul graduated from Durham University with a degree in geology in 1998 after
which he gained an MSc in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines in
1999. In 1996 and 1997 he also carried out four months of exploration fieldwork
at gold prospects in Bolivia. Paul joined Metal Bulletin's Industrial Minerals
Magazine in 2000 as Assistant Editor and after a two year secondment to New York
in 2002/2003, he returned to London and was promoted to deputy editor in 2005
prior to joining Mining Communications in April 2006. Paul's career in mining
and minerals journalism has taken him to five continents for feature visits,
conferences and exhibitions. |

Dr Chris Hinde
Editorial Director
Chris qualified as a Mining Engineer (with a BSc and PhD) from the University
of Wales, Cardiff. He joined Anglo American Corp in South Africa, and worked for
a few years at its Western Deep Levels gold mine. He subsequently worked for two
consultancy companies (in South Africa with Johannesburg-based SRK, and in the
UK with Maidenhead-based Golder Associates). Projects undertaken included work
on a diamond mine in Botswana, and lengthy overseas assignments in Malaysia and
Turkey.
He joined the editorial staff of Mining Journal in 1984, leaving 30 months
later to join the stockbroking subsidiary of Schroder Merchant Bank as a mining
analyst. Chris rejoined the Mining Journal team at the end of 1987, and was
appointed to the Board. |

George Demetri - Editor, World Tunnelling/Trenchless World
George has worked in the construction industry since 1982, having

went on to read for a post-graduate diploma in Building Conservation. He entered
journalism in 1994 and has since worked on a variety of architectural and
construction titles, first as a staff member and then as a freelancer. In 2002
he joined the Brick Development Association where he wrote and edited Brick
