Gemfields chases the carat

Gemfields has established itself as a profitable producer over the past few years with an impressive growth profile that is based largely on the company’s exploration success. Recent successes have been headlined by a maiden resource and reserve at the Montepuez in Mozambique of 432 million carats for a 21-year operation, and an updated reserve of 1.1 billion carats of emerald and beryl from its flagship Kagem mine in Zambia for a 25-year operation. The company’s commitment to extensive exploration across it portfolio as well its pioneering of coloured gemstone exploration techniques has earned it a nomination for the Mining Journal Outstanding Achievement Award for Exploration.
