Positivity for juniors in Toronto

Junior mining stocks on the TSX Venture Exchange had a positive period with some big moves seen among the smaller equities.

Canadian copper and gold miner Rambler Metals and Mining (CN:RMM) jumped more than 47% to C17c on no news.

Fluctuating Galore Resources (CN:GRI) enjoyed a gain of 66.6% to 5c.

The company has not made an announcement since last month clarifying its five-year agreement with a contractor to start mining at its project in Mexico.

On the TSX, Finnish explorer Mawson Resources (CN:MAW) gained 30.2% on news of Goldcorp's (CN:G) strategic investment of C$8.1 million.

Among the diversified majors, BHP (AU:BHP) closed 1.37% lower in Australian trade while Glencore (LN:GLEN) managed a 0.01% gain in London yesterday.

Finally, a stronger US dollar has seen the gold price head lower today to US$1,310 an ounce on the spot market.

It was trading above $1,340/oz a week ago.
