Gold gains, Nouveau Monde in New York

Gold has gained while most base metals closed lower on the London Metal Exchange on Friday.

Gold was up above US$1,883 an ounce on the spot market at the time of writing.

Nouveau Monde Graphite expects to start trading today on "the world's largest and most important capital market, namely the New York Stock Exchange".

The carbon neutral graphite hopeful's shares will continue to trade in Toronto and Frankfurt but its OTC quotation will cease to reflect the NYSE listing.

Pacific Booker Minerals was a big mover on Friday in Toronto.

The Canada-focused copper-gold explorer's shares shot up 45%, gaining C$1.17 to $3.75, before going into a trading halt at its request "pending news".

Its mining lease in British Columbia had been reinstated in November and the chief gold commissioner had given PBM until May 20 to conclude the application for the lease term renewal.

Toronto is closed for a public holiday today.

Among the majors, BHP was flat in morning Australian trade, Antofagasta finished Friday up more than 1% in London and Newmont had closed down 0.43% in the US.
