The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) has completed a long-awaited report entitled 'Rare Earth Materials in the Defense Supply Chain'. In mid-April the GAO briefed the Armed Services committees of the Senate and House of Representatives on the report's stark conclusions on US rare-earths dependency. The GAO's findings make uncomfortable reading for consumers of rare earth elements outside China.
