Company News: Avalon Minerals
Updated: 20 Aug 2010
Avalon took a significant step forward in its project acquisition strategy after reaching an agreement to acquire the Viscaria and Adak copper projects in northern Sweden.
Both projects have been the subject of earlier mining operations and are part of large mineralised systems with strong potential for additional copper and zinc deposits within the landholdings.
The acquisition of the two advanced copper projects was a landmark achievement for the Company and has enabled Avalon to make significant progress towards near-term production and cash flow through early exploration success.
In addition to planning exploration programs, Avalon has now moved into mine design and mine optimisation studies as part of its feasibility planning, which aims to fast track the Viscaria project towards an early cash flow from production.
The recently acquired cluster of six closed historical copper – zinc mines at Adak, which is 300km south of Viscaria also provides potential for Avalon to grow its base metal inventory within northern Sweden.
Avalon has reduced its exposure to its grass roots Australian exploration projects to allow the Company’s funds and resources to be focussed solely on developing the Viscaria copper project.
