Updated: 20 Oct 2010
Exco (ASX: EXS) is focused on developing its portfolio of Australian-based copper and gold projects.
In north-west Queensland Exco holds a ~4,100km2 land package in the highly prospective Mt Isa Block. Exco has established a resource base of 61Mt containing 520,000t of copper and 500,000oz of gold. A Definitive Feasibility Study is being completed on the Cloncurry Copper Project (CCP) and subject to the necessary approvals being received, the Company is aiming to be in production from the CCP by 2012.
In South Australia the White Dam Gold Project has been developed as an unincorporated joint venture between Exco (75%) and the Polymetals Group (25%). White Dam encompasses an open pit mine, dump leach, gold extraction plant and associated infrastructure and is expected to produce ~ 50,000 oz of gold per annum over a 2.5 year mine life. Production is already exceeding expectations and attention has turned to near-mine exploration and resource development activities with a view to extending the life of the mine.
