Ma’aden Phosphate Company (MPC) exploits a world class phosphate deposit
at Al Jalamid in the North of Saudi Arabia utilising local natural gas
and sulphur resources to manufacture Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) at
processing facilities at Ras Al Khair on the Arabian Gulf coast. These
facilities have the flexibility to also produce Monammonium Phosphate
(MAP), should production of MAP be considered more economically viable.
The DAP produced by MPC will be sold primarily into the international
markets. Quantities of ammonia and phosphoric acid not required for the
production of DAP can be exported or sold domestically. MPC is a joint
venture with SABIC, formed in September 2007 in which Ma'aden owns 70%
and SABIC 30%. MPC commenced initial production of DAP on the 17th June
2011.
