Lithium prices have doubled this year amid soaring global demand for the battery metal and supply scarcity. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has ignited the debate about the reliable supply of fossil fuels, and so strengthened the appeal of electric vehicles (EVs). Trading Economics reports that EV sales in China had already risen by more than 150% in 2021 to 3.2 million units, and sales are now expected to exceed 5 million units this year.
