Chikanza, a chartered accountant, moves onto the board at Bushveld after nine years at Lonmin Plc, the London and Johannesburg listed platinum miner recently acquired by Sibanye-Stillwater - a transaction Chikanza oversaw.

Fortune Mojapelo, CEO of Bushveld, said in a statement Chikanza had "deep understanding of the South African mining industry; is versed in the intricacies of various financial markets, and has experience in engaging debt and equity investors. She joins at a very important time in the Company's evolution and will play a significant role as we enter the next stage of growth and development."

UK investment firm SP Angel said in its Tanya Chikanza looks like "a good fit as finance director for Bushveld as it grows in terms of production and business activities."

Bushveld grew its profits in H1 2019 despite unfavourable commodity prices. The company said it was on track to meet its 2019 production guidance of 2,800mtV.
