Kazakhmys plc, the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan, has listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The company, which already trades in London, said it had not issued or sold any new shares to the Hong Kong market, but may consider doing so at a later date to assist liquidity.

Any future issuance would depend on share price levels and capital requirements, particularly as the Aktogay and Bozshakol growth projects progress, the company added.

Oleg Novachuk, Kazakhmys chief executive officer, said: “Our secondary listing in Hong Kong is important for the strategic development of Kazakhmys.

“Asia and China provide an increasing provide an increasingly significant customer and finance base for us.

“The listing will help raise our profile in the region’s major financial centre and will support the future development of our business by providing access to a much wider group of investors.”
