EUROPE DAY 14-01-11
Date: Friday 14th January 2011
Europe is defined by geographers as the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, with its boundaries marked to the east by the Urals, the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea.
The region is a centre of manufacturing, and consumes over 3,000Mt of minerals every year with demand expected to increase significantly over the next ten years. Some of these materials are unavailable within Europe, and so have to be imported. Others are geologically present, but access is becoming increasingly difficult. As a result, mining companies that have economically-viable projects within Europe are in increasing demand.
