Everything in Canada is big, compared with the UK that is. The buildings, roads and cars all seem on a different scale, and the PDAC it seems, does not want to be the exception to the rule.
The conference got into full swing on Tuesday, with the technical sessions, forums and exchanges all receiving good coverage from delegates.
In fact if there is one criticism I have heard is that the convention is simply too big.
Many delegates say that they are unable to achieve everything they need to in the time available, and, like others, I have had to make some difficult choices about where best to spend my time.
Exhibitors, especially those in the investor exchange, find it difficult to split their time between manning their booth and taking all the meetings they need to.
One delegate suggested that the conference needs to be extended to a full week for him to get everything done.
But I’m not sure if the conference can get any bigger or longer. Surely it must be close to reaching capacity, and if you attend some of the additional sessions or workshops the trip already easily extends to a week.
We will have to wait until 2011 to see how the PDAC responds to the strong turnout that the convention saw again this year, and if we can expect to extend our stay in this city of giants.
