Australia has new METS hub

News earlier this month of an Australian robot inventor raising US$40 million in the North American technology venture capital market would have got Elizabeth Lewis-Gray’s heart racing. The head of one of the Australian Industry Growth Centres attracting US$170 million of federal funding over the next four years believes in a future in which mining-innovation holds similar investor appeal in her home country.

Lewis-Gray, co-founder of an Australian METS (mining equipment, technology and services) company that has invested millions in advanced mineral processing systems, recently completed Australia-wide consultations for a submission to federal government science and industry minister Ian Macfarlane. The submission, something of a fait accompli, is effectively a blueprint for a METS Industry Growth Centre of excellence.
