He is a chartered geologist with more than 25 years' experience in the industry across a range of commodities and activities, as well as management roles.

MacKenzie was a founder of TSX-listed Helio Resource Corp where he spent 12 years, first as executive chairman and later COO and executive director, leading the identification and development of gold projects in Namibia and Tanzania.

While the majority of his experience is in Africa, he has also worked on projects in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
