He was most recently a geologist at Exploration Resource Services and prior to that was chief global geologist and senior investment manager of The Sentient Group for a decade.

Mears was also previously interim COO of Marengo where he led corporate rescue efforts and attracted investment of US$100 million.

He will take over from interim CEO Robert Rosner, who has filled the position since June 2017 and will now move back to the role as CFO, which he held previously. Rosner was also named as executive vice president.

The current CFO Steve Cozine has resigned, but will remain as company secretary.

Lucky has also hired Alain Moreau as vice president of exploration.
