First female chair elect for LME

The London Metals Exchange (LME) has chosen Gay Huey Evans OBE to replace retiring chairman Sir Brian Bender in December.

Gay Huey Evans will be the LME's first female chair

Evans will be the LME's first female chair and brings 30 years of experience working in the financial services industry, the international capital markets and with the financial regulator.

She has previously held a number of roles at Citi including head of governance, Citi Alternative Investments EMEA, before joining Barclays Capital where she was vice chair of investment banking and investment management.

Evans is currently a non-executive director of Standard Chartered, Bank Itau BBA International and ConocoPhilips, is a member of the US Council on Foreign Relations and is a non-executive member of the UK HM Treasury Board.

Evans was previously a non-executive director of the London Stock Exchange Group and Aviva, and deputy chairman of the Financial Reporting Council.

She received an OBE for services to financial services and diversity.
