De Beers today announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer (CFO), while reports indicated that commodities major Glencore International plc will see the first departure from its management committee since the company went public in April 2011.
Steven Blumgart has been with Glencore since 1998. He took on a co-directorship of the company’s alumina/aluminium commodity sector in 2006, serving on the 13-member committee which constitutes Glencore’s senior management.
The Financial Times reports that Mr Blumgart will leave the company within the year, leaving sole oversight of the company’s aluminium interests to Gary Fegel.
De Beers said that Gareth Mostyn will take over as the diamond producer’s CFO. Mr Mostyn was formerly head of corporate finance at Anglo American – he starts with De Beers on February 1.
