Mining Journal

Mining Journal, which has been reporting on the international mining industry since 1835, is expanding its news coverage to include an around-the-clock web-based service.

In addition to offices in London and Perth, we will be establishing a presence in Vancouver. To launch coverage in this third time zone, Mining Journal is looking to employ a full-time member of staff in British Columbia.

The successful candidate will be part of an eight-person international mining-editorial team. You will be expected to feed material to our dedicated website while the teams in London and Perth are away from their desks. You will also contribute in-depth articles to the weekly printed publication.

The role will involve monitoring corporate press releases and news services, and attending corporate presentations and conferences. Initially working alone, and probably home based, you will have remote access to the company's central news-gathering systems.

The job will suit a confident, personable individual who is able to work independently, whilst also accepting the responsibilities of being part of a global team. Prior knowledge of the mining industry would be a distinct advantage but is not obligatory. Important, however, is an aptitude in searching for information, attendant ability to understand the issues and the skill to explain them clearly to readers.

A first set of interviews will be on Monday/Tuesday, September 26th/27th, in Vancouver.
