Kazakhmys plc has produced 153,000t of copper cathode in the six months to end-June, putting it on track to reach its 300,000t target for the year.

The company’s ore output copper in concentrate production recovered in Q2 following some seasonal and production issues at the start of the year.

The average copper grade over the period was 1.01%, compared with 1.14% Cu in the comparable period in 2010. The company says the decline was principally due to lower grades across Kazakhstan's Zhezkazgan region.

Financial results are expected on August 25.
