As I feared – I won’t say predicted – PDAC was indeed a metal-price-forecast-fest, with Barrick Gold’s Jamie Sokalsky leading the charge. Setting the record straight on his chairman’s earlier favourable comments towards hedging he made it clear hedging was not on the agenda. “Gold is not something we are considering hedging”. He was also reported to have said that “within two or three years, I wouldn’t be surprised to see gold back up towards US$2,000/oz”.
