Fortescue Metals Group founder and current chairman Andrew Forrest, one of Australia’s richest individuals, this week told The Australian newspaper in an interview he believed drastic cost-cutting by FMG and its major Western Australia iron ore rivals Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton had left all the heavyweight Pilbara producers in a better position to ride out further market volatility without the business dislocation seen during the last price rout.
