Burkina Faso after the revolution

It has been nearly three years since a popular uprising ousted the government in Burkina Faso. For mining companies operating in the country, the sudden change threatened to destabilise their activities. Former president Blaise Compaoré’s 27 years in power were over.

Within nine months, a new mining code had been introduced by the transitional administration that governed until the election of Roch Kaboré as president in late 2015.
