Australians subsidise foreign miners

A partnership between resources companies and the Northern Territory government in Australia has said grants totalling A$850,000 are to be paid to nine companies, many whose parent companies are overseas, to carry out 10 minerals exploration projects across the region.

The geophysical survey and drilling projects will test new areas for gold, base metals, uranium, manganese, zinc and petroleum, said the Territory’s mines and energy minister David Tollner.
