The federal Impact Assessment permitting process has been initiated on Canada Nickel Company’s Crawford project in Ontario following the acceptance of the company’s Initial Project Description by the country’s Impact Assessment Agency.

It'll now go through a 180-day comment period.

"The relationships we have built since the earliest days of the project have been crucial in facilitating these conversations, and by continuing to collect, reflect upon, and integrate the comments, concerns, questions, and suggestions we receive, Canada Nickel hopes to build a project that maximizes benefits to all communities in the region," Canada Nickel's chair and CEO Mark Selby said.

Canada Nickel's share price rose 6% day on day to close at a near four-week high of C$1.70 (US$1.32) on 8 August. The company has a market capitalization of C$192.21 million.
