Surge in China's exports may be "short-lived"

Exports from China surged well above expectations in March, being supported by demand for electric vehicles, with shipments to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) reaching a record high.

"We believe that it is more likely to be that Asian demand is still rising even though the western side of the world is experiencing an economic downturn,” ING THINK said.

While it's a positive sign for global demand, analysts warn that the upswing may not last due to a looming downturn in developed economies.
