Nutrien on the front foot

North American fertiliser producer and distributor Nutrien is delivering on the promised synergies stemming from the ‘merger of equals’ between Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan and Agrium Inc early this year faster than expected, the C$46 billion company’s strong September-quarter results show.

Nutrien was trading up 5.77% in New York Tuesday after reporting better than forecast profit, lifting its quarterly pidend 7.5% and raising its full-year headline profit outlook.

Nutrien CEO Chuck Magro attributed the strong quarter to rebounding demand for its potash and suite of plant fertiliser products, as well as robust retail sales.
