Samarco uglier as death toll climbs

Brazilian authorities have said BHP Billiton and Vale must pay a preliminary deposit of US$260 million to cover compensation and clean-up costs after tailing dams burst at their joint-venture Samarco iron ore project in the north of the country, killing at least 11.
