Codelco output falls 5.7%

Chile’s state copper company Codelco has reported a 5.7% fall in copper production during the first quarter to March 31, of 387,000 tonnes, compared with 413,000t in the prior year period.

The company, the world's second largest copper producer, attributed the decline to lower grades at its Ministro Hales operation and lower throughput at the Chuquicamata concentrator.
