Sernageomin suspends Lundin's Alcaparrosa for sinkhole

Chile’s National Geology and Mining Service, Sernageomin, has ordered Lundin Mining to temporary suspend operations at the Alcaparrosa underground mine at its Candelaria operation after a 50m diameter, 200m deep sinkhole appeared last week.

The company reported that the sinkhole has remained stable since detection and that the area was immediately isolated, with no impact to personnel, equipment or infrastructure.
