New analysis by Fitch Solutions Macro Research has shown that manganese and iron will increasingly benefit from the expected demand-pull emanating from their respective roles in lithium-ion battery cathodes.

Surprisingly, Fitch pointed out iron ore could see considerable demand-side impact due to the widespread use of lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cathodes in China over the coming years.

Known for their low cost and reliability, LFP cathodes used by key Chinese manufacturers BYD, Denza and Byton among others, currently accounted for more than 84% of new EV battery sales in China, according to Fitch data.
