Regulators in Chile have threatened US speciality chemicals group Albemarle with legal action over its failure to turn over reserves data for lithium deposits in the Salar de Atacama, which was a condition for an expansion approval.

Chilean nuclear agency CCHEN, which licenses lithium exports, said Albemarle had failed to provide adequate reserves data more than a year after the regulator requested it, reported Reuters.
