Obrador sends bill to nationalise lithium

Mexico’s president Andres Obrador has sent a bill to the Chamber of Deputies seeking to modify the mining law to reserve the right to exploit lithium for the state, in what appears to be a crusade against foreign investment in natural resources.

By sending the bill, the president made good on his threat to do so if Congress rejected his planned reform of the electricity generation sector, which Congress duly did Sunday night.
