Tsingshan reportedly building Indonesian nickel refinery

Private Chinese giant metals company Tsingshan Holding Group is building a 50,000t nickel refinery in Indonesia, which could produce a metal deliverable on the London Metal Exchange, Bloomberg News reported.

“The move reflects the steelmaker’s desire to deliver products to LME warehouses, which require refined metal,” advisor and broker SP Angel said.

The news comes as Tsingshan and its billionaire owner Xiang Guangda remain caught up in the fallout from the LME nickel crisis in March of this year.
