In the mining world, Mexico is synonymous with silver and to a lesser degree copper and gold, all of which are exploited to a greater or lesser degree by domestic powerhouses Grupo Mexico, Penoles and Fresnillo. Outside of Agnico Eagle Mines and Pan American Silver, the major miners are noticeable by their absence.
