Antamina hopes for extension permit this year

The Antamina copper mine in Ancash, Peru hopes to be able to complete permitting a life extension project by year end to begin construction in 2024, chief executive Victor Gobitz told Mining Journal at the 2023 CRU World Copper Congress in Santiago, Chile.

The project aims to extend the mine life from 2028 until 2036, using the same footprint and maintaining production. Antamina produces about 560,000tpa of copper equivalent.
