Peak silver fears exaggerated, summit hears

The pure-play silver producers at the 2018 Silver & Gold Summit in San Francisco think fears of peak silver production being reached are overblown, as the market deals with falling mine output and rising demand.

MAG Silver chief exploration officer Dr Peter Megaw believes peak production is yet to pass.

"Eighty per cent of silver is by-product. Only 20-25% comes from pure-play producers, which leads me to believe there is a lot of silver remaining undiscovered underground, since it's been unloved for so long," Megaw, sitting on a panel of silver producers, said.

"There's a lot of silver in the ground if you're willing to look for it...
