Gold Fields reports first fatality in a year

Gold Fields has reported its first fatality in a year after an employee fell down a reef ore-pass at its South Deep mine in South Africa.

The company said Abel Magajane, a shaft timberman, succumbed from injuries sustained in the fall on June 3.
