Why miners should look at 'next-generation' power storage

In a Mining Journal article we authored in September 2018, we stressed the importance of miners’ anticipating tomorrow’s battery-technology innovations. By doing so, companies can prepare to pivot if needed to succeed in the volatile battery-metals market. Of course, lithium-ion batteries currently dominate the landscape, and we expect this technology to be around for a while—though it will likely see some improvements. But there’s also considerable ongoing research into next-generation power storage—in such forms as innovative batteries and fuel cells.
