In 2008, Churchill Mining discovered what was estimated to be the world’s seventh largest undeveloped coal resource in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Subsequently, local authorities revoked the company’s mining licences for various reasons including alleged forgery of the licences. More than US$10 million has since been spent on arbitration.
