At first glance, the appeal for Western miners of cutting deals with Indonesia appears compelling. The country is the biggest producer of nickel and has ample deposits of cobalt and copper. It’s a country often overlooked and yet today it’s emerging as an economic powerhouse with the fourth largest population in the world.
