Another day, another hurdle for US coal miner

US coal producers haven’t been having a good time of it. Prices for their products have tanked, the White House’s carbon emission policies have led to closures, and cheap natural gas production has replaced a chunk of its market share. Now one of the country’s most prominent coal mining states is putting the boot in further.

At the end of last month, Alpha Natural Resources and its Alpha Coal West operating subsidiary, the former of which saw its market worth fall 99% in the space of five years, was issued a statement
