PearTree's 'gifts' making a difference

The quirky flow-through share structure has been a part of the Canadian tax system for more than 25 years, helping fund the discovery of some of the country’s biggest mines. The Ekati diamond mine in the Northwest Territories and Voisey’s Bay nickel operation in Newfoundland and Labrador may never have existed without it.

The system is in need of a revamp, though.
