Trans-Tasman makes fresh NZ offshore mining bid

Trans-Tasman Resources, the privately owned company that had an application to mine iron sands of New Zealand’s north island rejected by the Environmental Protection Agency, has now applied for a prospecting permit off the west coast of the South Island.

The application to New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals is for a 4,436km permit extending from Ross to north of Karamea, from 1km offshore out to the 12 nautical mile territorial limit.
