Australian court overturns Adani approval

The Adani Group’s A$16.5 billion (US$12.2 billion) Carmichael coal project in Queensland has hit a major roadblock after the Federal Court of Australia overturned the environment minister’s approval of the project.

The court found Greg Hunt ignored departmental advice about the proposed mine’s impact on two endangered species – the ornamental snake and the yakka skink.
