The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has granted a motion brought by the trustees of the Drywall Acoustic Lathing and Insulation Local 675 pension fund seeking leave to bring a US$3 billion class action against Barrick Gold for alleged misrepresentations in the company’s 2012 environmental disclosures regarding the stalled Pascua Lama gold-copper mine straddling the Argentina-Chile border.

Barrick faces a US$3 billion class action against for alleged misrepresentations regarding the stalled Pascua Lama gold-copper mine straddling the Argentina-Chile border

The suit relates to secondary market misrepresentations allegedly made by Barrick during the construction of the multi-billion-dollar project in an environmentally sensitive area of the High Andes.
