BHP, Rio Tinto charge deeper into batteries

Until a few days ago the world’s biggest mining companies, BHP and Rio Tinto, saw copper as their preferred exposure to electric cars. Copper is not alone today. BHP has revived its interest in nickel as a battery metal, and Rio Tinto is plotting a move into lithium.
