Vedanta appoints Africa base metals CEO

Vedanta Resources (LSE:VED) has appointed Deshnee Naidoo as the CEO - Africa base metals to enhance the company’s African operations and identify and drive synergies across them.

Deshnee Naidoo will lead Vedanta's African base metals division

The position will combine the leadership of Konkola Copper Mines in Zambia, Vedanta Zinc International (VDI) in South Africa and Namibia and Copper Mines of Tasmania, assuming responsibility of KCM CEO after the departure of Steven Din in July.

Naidoo was previously CEO of VDI, having joined Vedanta in 2014, and led the development of the US$400 million Gamsberg project and the Pit 112 project at Skorpion Zinc.

Prior to joining Vedanta, she was CFO of Anglo American Thermal Coal in South Africa and has over 20 years' experience in the resources industry.
