In more than 30 years in the industry McDonald has been involved in the formation and growth of several Latin America-focused mining companies, including Alamos Gold, Genco Resources and Kootenay Silver. He also co-founded and was a director of Northern Vertex Mining Corp.

Aldebaran is earning up to 80% of the Altar copper-gold project in San Juan Province, Argentina, from Sibanye-Stillwater, and also has the Rio Grande and Aguas Calientes projects in the country.

Regulus and Aldebaran CEO John Black said McDonald had extensive exploration experience in Argentina and "his expertise is a welcome addition to the team as we advance the Altar project".

Subject to TSXV approval, Aldebaran is granting McDonald options to purchase 200,000 shares at C$1.25 per share for up to five years.
