ABB to deliver hoists for new Kittilä shaft

Agnico Eagle mine to employ advanced hoist systems

Agnico Eagle's Kittilä mine in Finland's north is developing a 1km-deep shaft to access deeper gold ore and will use ABB hoist systems to fit out the production and personnel shaft. The Swiss giant is suppling a 2.5MW friction production hoist and 1.2MW single-drum personnel hoist.

ABB says it has has delivered more than 700 mine hoisting systems worldwide.
